Saturday Celebrity Style – Take That Twosomes

Well I love Take That and if you don’t …..why not???? I also adore weddings, so today is a dream combination – we are noseying at the weddings of two Take That stars – Robbie Williams and Mark Owen.

Mark married Emma Ferguson at Cawdor Castle in the Scottish Highlands on 8 November 2009.

Mark wore a dapper purple velvet suit and don’t the rest of the Take that boys look mighty fine?

Saturday Celebrity Style- A Tale of Two Sisters

I LOVE a Royal wedding. I love the pomp, the ceremony, the guests, the weird traditions. the mad Royal fans, the innane commentary for hours before the big event, the wacky hats and of course THE dress. What’s not to love? Today we’re going for the big guns, the ultimate Royals – Queen Elizabeth II and her sister, Princess Margaret.

The Queen’s dress for her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947,was said to be to be inspired by Botticelli’s 1482 painting of Primavera, particularly the elaborate embroidery motifs of scattered flowers on the rich satin dress and the tulle veil worn by the royal bride. On account of the austerity measures following the war, Princess Elizabeth was given hundreds of clothing coupons by brides-to-be from all parts of the country, which helped her buy the material for the dress.

Saturday Celebrity Style- Gwen Stefani rocks the dip dye

I LOVE wedding dresses. I love slinky sleek fitted dresses, big giant meringues, sparkly sequinned fabulousness, simple unadorned designs.

I think I have only seen one or 2 dresses that I have actually grimaced at-one was a family friend and was such a hideous concoction that my sister and I had an emergency conference in the toilet to decide what we would say when we went over to say hello, because the usual, “You look gorgeous”, “I love your dress” were just WRONG! The other was Princess Diana-sorry but what a creased bloody mess!

BUT I also love colour. Bright shocking pink, pillarbox red, azure blue-LOVE colour. So Gwen Stafani’s dress is to be pretty much a perfect combination.

Elizabeth Taylor – Eight weddings, eight dresses, seven husbands…..

Now I’m not suggesting you get married 8 times-once is more than enough thankyou very much but I do like the idea of wearing lots of dresses- I would struggle to choose just one when there are so many gorgeous designs and styles out there.

Elizabeth Taylor-one of the most beautiful women ever, famously married 8 times and it’s really interesting to see how her style changed over the decades as she matured. So today we are looking at each of those dresses and would love to know which is your favourite and why.

Probably the most traditional gown worn by Elizabeth for her 1951 wedding to hotel heir Nicky Hilton. Just look at that teeny tiny waist! Read more

Saturday Celebrity Style – the wedding of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother

Now I love a royal Wedding. The pomp, the glamour, the tradition, the clothes and I also love a bit of nostalgia, so today we’ve combined the 2 by taking a look back at the 1923 wedding style of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

Now when she married, there was no inkling that she would later become Queen and then mother of our monarch.

Her husband was third in line to the throne at the time and their wedding was a low key, yet sophisicated affair. I love the full length boho look to her gown and that veil-copied by Lilly Allen a few decades later 🙂

I’m sure if she had been the future queen at the time of her wedding, the whole event would have been very different, following centuries old traditions and protocols, so it’s lovely that this wedding is entirely how the couple wanted it.

What do you think? Is it a love or a hate? Leave a comment and tell me which celebrity wedding style you adore.
